KOTRA Budapest Housing Guide — Corporate Apartments for Korean Business Professionals (2026)

← LifeSpace Budapest Book Directly — No OTA Fees

Korean business professionals arriving in Hungary often discover the same thing within a week: the Korean business community in Budapest is well connected, but housing is still something each employee ends up solving alone. If your company works with KOTRA Budapest, or you are an HR manager placing engineers and managers from a Korean firm, KOTRA Budapest housing is really a question of three things: where to live, what a corporate apartment must include, and how to get a proper Hungarian company invoice. LifeSpace manages 100+ apartments with a local Budapest team and has done so since 2019, so this guide reflects what we see on real assignments.

Why Korean business teams in Budapest need a housing plan, not just an apartment

Hungary has become one of the main European destinations for Korean manufacturing and battery investment. Samsung SDI operates in Göd and SK On in Komárom and Iváncsa, and around them sits a wider circle of suppliers, trading companies and service firms, many of which use KOTRA Budapest as a first point of contact for market information and introductions. The people arriving are rarely tourists: they are engineers, quality managers, finance staff and country managers on assignments of one to twelve months, often arriving on short notice.

That timing is the problem. A hotel is fine for a week, but after three weeks the cost, the lack of a kitchen and the lack of a desk start to matter. Renting privately means a Hungarian-language lease, a deposit, utilities in someone else’s name and no company invoice. A corporate apartment solves all three, but only if it is set up for how Korean teams actually work.

What a corporate apartment should include for Korean professionals

From the assignments we have housed, a few requirements come up again and again:

  • Official Hungarian company invoicing — issued to the employer entity, with the tax number and reference your finance team needs, so nothing depends on individual receipts.
  • A real workspace — every LifeSpace corporate unit has a dedicated desk with a 24-inch monitor, because late calls with headquarters in Korea are normal.
  • Weekly in-house cleaning — included in the package, not an add-on.
  • Flexible length — a three-month assignment can become six without renegotiating from scratch.
  • English-speaking support — for repairs, questions and anything that would otherwise require Hungarian.

Best Budapest districts for Korean business professionals

The right district depends on where the employee works, not on which neighbourhood looks best on a map.

Assigned to Samsung SDI in Göd or a northern supplier

District III (Óbuda), XIII and XV give the shortest practical commute towards the M2 and Route 2 corridor, with supermarkets, restaurants and international schools close by. District XIII is also popular with families because it is flat, green along the Danube and well served by the M3 metro.

Assigned to SK On in Iváncsa or the south

District IX (Ferencváros), XI (Újbuda) and XXI (Csepel) are closest to the M6 motorway. Placing an Iváncsa employee in the north can add 20–30 minutes each way, which is why we ask for the plant location before we suggest an apartment.

Office-based, or working with KOTRA and trading firms in the centre

Districts V, VI and VII put restaurants, metro lines and meeting venues within walking distance. They suit short stays and people without a car. See the corporate housing section of our website for current packages.

Company invoice, VAT and payment: what HR and finance should ask

Before you confirm any booking, ask the provider to confirm in writing: the legal name and tax number on the invoice, the billing period, the currency and payment reference, how the deposit is handled, and the notice period for early departure or extension. Official Hungarian company invoicing is available with LifeSpace, and one invoice can cover several employees in the same building, which keeps accounts payable simple. For a wider comparison of formats, read our guide on company-paid apartments versus serviced apartments.

  2. We suggest districts and units that match the commute, usually within the same working day.
  3. You confirm in writing, including invoice details and extension terms.
  4. We prepare the apartment with workspace, linen and a welcome pack, and the first weekly clean is scheduled.
